OUR TIME IS RUNNING OUT

We live in a time of an escalating climate crisis, which brings with it more and more devastating consequences for nature and people. Leaders from all over the world need to reach an agreement and create a plan on how to cut the greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 and reducing them to zeto by 2050. We're out of time! The years we believe to be far away are actually right around the corner.

AMBITION RED LINES! 

WWF has identified five key priorities to be achieved. These are the ‘red lines of ambition’, the least we expect from our leaders. While they, decision-makers and hosts of multilateral events, must deliver on the following priorities, we will also need all stakeholders to play their part to drive system change and economic transformation. COP26 was a great opportunity for this, but unfortunately, it was not fully utilized. Certain steps were taken, but we expected more, and we continue to demand a lot more! 

COP27 will be held in 2022 in Egypt, and we invite you to join us in sending a clear message that we won't forget our expectations, the promises that we were given, and the promises we expect to get!

We have an opportunity to prevent the climate crisis, to restore our home, and most importantly, to survive. COP26 has ended but our work continues!

World leaders have to hear us loud and clear when we say we won't forget their promises. They promised to keep the temperatures at safe levels, to work in harmony with nature in tackling the climate crisis. The time has come for them to deliver on these promises. And more!

REMIND OUR LEADERS NOW!

COP26 is not the end, but just the start of our work, our demands, and expectations. Send a clear message and remind our leaders now! We will let them know how many voices rose up for climate, so they don't forget that a lot of us care about a brighter and greener future! 

WITHOUT THESE STEPS, WE WON'T SUCEED:

1. ACCELERATE DECARBONIZATION NOW

Governments, cities, companies, academia, civil society and investors, among others, must, as an urgent priority, move economic systems onto a sustainable footing, shifting away from our dependence on fossil fuels.

It is vital that workers in unsustainable parts of the global economy, their families and their communities are supported – no-one must be left behind.
 

2. ACT ON NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS

Nature-based solutions are initiatives that protect, restore and sustainably manage land and ocean ecosystems such as forests, peatlands, wetlands, savannahs, coral reefs and mangroves. 

Nature should be protected and restored because it absorbs and stores carbon and plays a key role in the adaptation and resilience of places and communities. Funding for nature-based solutions has to be increased and countries must include technically, environmentally and socially sound nature-based solutions in their national climate plans.
