Cycle for nature through five countries along Mura, Drava and Danube
The Amazon of Europe Bike Trail is a long-distance cycling trail following the unique riverine landscapes the rivers Mura, Drava and Danube for over 1.250 km in 27 stages that offers an amazing opportunity for nature cycling holidays with a cultural experience. When booking this cycling adventure, part of the spending directly supports nature conservation in the region
With 1.250 km of cycling trails following both sides of the rivers in 27 stages through Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia, the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail represents an advanced flagship sustainable product.
“Although we planned our Amazon of Europe Bike Trail testing phase for this summer, we had to postpone it because of COVID 19 pandemics. Nevertheless, we worked tirelessly on developing our product in cooperation with tourism organisations, service providers, municipalities, regions and protected areas with the aim to boost a balanced local development. We hope the situation will get better really soon and all nature enthusiast and cyclist will have chance to enjoy cycling via Amazon of Europe Bike Trail next spring”, said Urška Dolinar, Amazon of Europe Bike Trail Project Manager.
While Amazon of Europe Bike Trails offers full service for cyclists within its own Service & Booking Center, it also puts nature in its focus through a valorisation programme “Cycle for nature”. Programme is developed to ensure direct reinvestment of a certain percentage of the income into nature protection projects in the region.
“Area of future 5-country UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Mura-Drava-Danube is the hotspot of biodiversity and rare natural habitats – floodplain forests, river islands, gravel and sandbars, oxbows – and we need to preserve. All cyclists which choose Amazon of Europe Bike Trail get the chance to directly contribute to the protection of this unique region”, said Darko Bizjak from WWF Adria.
You can discover the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail on our new product website, where you can find comprehensive information about the route and the adventures and discoveries of both, South and North route. Key information about the product, current news and other important content is available.
Aside from cyclists, the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail is open to all visitors and offers spectacular natural landscapes and possibilities for various leisure activities making it a great destination for all nature lovers!
