Clean-Up Actions for Preserved Island Wetlands

Two wetland clean-up actions were organized on Krk Island and Hvar Island to mark World Wetlands Day with the support of WWF Adria

To raise awareness about the value of island wetlands for people and nature, students on Krk Island made special informational boards with messages about the importance of healthy wetlands. After the clean-up action of Jezero wetland, students placed informational boards near pathways to keep all visitors informed about the benefits of wetlands.

Meanwhile, students of high school on Hvar with the help of the teachers organized clean-up action of Dračevica wetland which is located on Stari Grad Plain, which is listed as the UNESCO heritage site. Since they spotted an illegal waste site nearby, they decided to clean it up with the help of local waste management public company.

Although clean-up actions were separate events, the message is the same – give back to nature and keep our ecosystems healthy for the benefit of all living beings.
