Deni Porej to step down as WWF Adria CEO at the end of July

ZAGREB / BELGRADE - Deni Porej  has announced his decision to step down as CEO of WWF Adria  at the end of July after nearly 14 years with WWF.  For the last two years Deni has led WWF Adria’s work across eight countries in the Western Balkans, ensuring WWF’s place as an important conservation actor in the region and achieving significant nature conservation results.

Before taking over WWF Adria leadership in 2017, Deni was the Conservation Director of WWF Mediterranean for many years, leading that office’s conservation work across thirteen countries. Deni was the main driver in scaling up WWF’s work in Adria and creating an office which has become a strong component of the WWF global network.

He is stepping down for personal reasons.

WWF Adria President, Paolo Lombardi, said: “I want to express my deep appreciation for all that Deni Porej has done for WWF, not only in the Western Balkans but throughout the Mediterranean basin. On behalf of WWF Adria's Board and employees, I would like to thank Deni for all he has given to WWF and wish him all the best in the future.”

WWF Adria will start the recruitment of a new CEO in the coming weeks. The role of interim CEO has been taken by WWF Adria’s Conservation Programs Manager, Petra Remeta.
