Protected areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina - guardians of natural, historical and cultural values
WWF Adria and UNEP in the campaign for the promotion and preservation of protected areas
WWF Adria and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP BiH), have launched a campaign to promote the natural values of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the message "Protected and preserved nature - the wealth of all generations".
The main part of the campaign is a promotional and educational video showing the journey of father and son through several protected areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina, during which they learn about the diversity of nature preserved in them. Their journey is enriched by encounters with different individuals, each of whom cares about natural values in their own way - from rangers who daily preserve large, often inaccessible areas and flora and fauna in them, tourist guides and educators, to locals who preserve tradition and promote the sustainable use of natural resources.
Beside the beauty of preserved nature that is present in almost every frame, the video shows the consequences of man's irresponsible attitude towards nature, pointing out the responsibility of each of us to preserve the immeasurable wealth in our environment.
On their unique journey, the film's protagonists visited Nature Park Blidinje, Protected Landscape Vjetrenica, Perućica Rainforest, Boračko Lake Nature Monument and National Park Sutjeska.
The campaign will be implemented on the official channels of WWF Adria and UNEP, with the desire to point out the importance of protected areas for biodiversity conservation, but also the potential they provide for the socio-economic development of communities. We are witnessing that their role is often neglected, while unsustainable activities such as deforestation, mass construction and mass tourism take precedence. Through the regional project "Protected Areas for Nature and People", WWF advocates efficient and financially sustainable protected areas, supported through the involvement of local communities and civil society organizations.
The videos, as well as the corresponding visuals, were made in cooperation with the marketing agency Mania from Banja Luka. You can watch the video here, and you can follow the entire campaign on our official Facebook page.
