Dunja Mazzocco Drvar is the new Director of the Nature Conservation Program at WWF Adria

Dunja will lead expert efforts to address key environmental challenges, promote sustainable practices, and advocate for policies that protect the region's most vulnerable species and ecosystems.

Dunja Mazzocco Drvar is the new Director of the Nature Conservation Program at WWF Adria, the regional office of the global nature conservation organization WWF. In her role as the Program Director, Ms Mazzocco Drvar will play a key role in shaping conservation strategies and developing new initiatives and partnerships in eight countries in the region: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia. She will lead expert efforts to address key environmental challenges, promote sustainable practices, and advocate for policies that protect the most vulnerable species and ecosystems in the region.

Dunja Mazzocco Drvar holds MSc Degree in meteorology and oceanography from the Department of Geophysics at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics in Zagreb, Croatia. Throughout her career at the State Meteorological Institute, later as a meteorologist on television, and in the non-governmental sector and the Government, Dunja has demonstrated a lasting and strong commitment to combating climate change. She comes to WWF Adria from the position of the Director General of the Climate Activities Department at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. She is a member of the Croatian Meteorological Society and the Journalists' Association and is involved in running, volunteer work, and children's education in her spare time.

Upon her appointment, Dunja Mazzocco Drvar stated, "I am honored to join WWF Adria as the Director of the Nature Conservation Program. WWF Adria itself was officially established in 2015, and the organization's work is focused on improving the sustainable management of freshwater ecosystems, forests, protected areas, and the conservation of seas and, of course, wildlife, all in close collaboration with local communities.
