Climate adaptation and resilience in Europe: Principles for action

Europe is increasingly being shaken by the harmful impacts of climate change. Our continent is the fastest-warming in the world and is more and more frequently hit by heatwaves, droughts, floods, wildfires and sea level rise, all of which threaten our societies and the natural ecosystems on which we depend. Unfortunately, the EU and its Member States are insufficiently prepared to manage these growing challenges.

The upcoming European Climate Adaptation Plan offers a tremendous opportunity for the European Commission to guide Europe in adapting to climate shocks. This paper outlines key principles for achieving a climate-resilient and thriving Europe.
