WWF Adria is representing WWF within the countries of Western Balkans with approximately more than 35 employees. It operates through a WWF Adria office in Zagreb (Croatia), WWF Adria-Serbia office in Belgrade, and partner organizations and consultants within the rest of the region. To implement its conservation goals WWF Adria operates in the structure of different programmes (Marine, Freshwater, Protected Areas & Governance and Wildlife) which are contributing to protection of different ecosystems or to the improvement of governance of protected areas within the Protected Areas & Governance Programme.

WWF Adria Serbia is seeking a Project Officer to join our team in Serbia, in order to: implement projects and related activities which will lead to increase knowledge about climate change and Just Transition challenges among high school students from coal regions in 4 Eastern European countries (Bulgaria, Serbia, North Macedonia and Montenegro) and encourage their active involvement in policy making and problem-solving.

The projects will promote green entrepreneurship and create sustainable livelihood opportunities in coal regions through an innovative education package which includes a dedicated interactive online course on climate change and just transition, a series of face-to-face hackathons and an online collaboration space.

I   Major Functions
  • Implements and manages projects activities according to projects workplans,
  • Maintains and develops partnerships and stakeholder engagement according to projects workplans and needs,
  • Supports monitoring and reporting at project level,
  • Supports fundraising for WWF Adria program unit and supports program manager in building partnerships and managing relationships with stakeholders relevant for the WWF Adria strategy.

II   Detailed Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implements projects activities, monitors and reports on project implementation on behalf of WWF Adria-Serbia;
  • Maintains close cooperation with partners at the projects, ensuring the implementation of joint project activities, and supporting smooth integration of stakeholders in project activities;
  • Actively participates and represents WWF Adria-Serbia in project workshops and meetings;
  • Coordinates preparation of needed expert analyses, identified in agreement with other WWF Adria colleagues; leads preparation of relevant ToRs and task descriptions;
  • Participates and actively engages in fundraising activities for WWF Adria;
  • Represent WWF Adria in the WWF Network and other international fora, as required;
  • Project activities and replicable opportunities includes: project management, regular communication with partners and participants, monitoring and evaluation, developing steering committee, support in developing an education program; organisation of training of trainers; education program delivery, collaboration of young people and cross-border support among the partners, support in sustainable Online Panda Hub, networking events, organisation of Hackathons, policy advocacy of young people, contribution in stakeholder engagement, organisation of round tables, support and lead for Youth policy guide for sustainable development in coal regions.
III   Profile
  • University degree in any of the following areas: environmental science, natural resources science, organisational science, ecology or related fields;
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in project implementation in relevant areas;
  • Basic knowledge of monitoring & evaluation systems at the project and program level and project administration (budgeting, administrative procedures);
  • Basic knowledge of Monitoring&Evaluation systems at project level and project administration (budgeting, administration procedures).
  • A good level of computer literacy, especially word-processing, budget and spreadsheet preparation, database record systems, electronic mail.
  • Good oral and written Serbian/Croat/Bosnian/Montenegrin and good English communication skills are required.
  • Basic knowledge of the geography, societies, economies, politics and pertinent issues of conservation and development within the project’s scope.
  • Good inter-personal and organizational skills, including self-motivation and ability to initiate actions and to follow through to satisfactory completion;
  • Aligning with the core values of the WWF: courage, collaboration, respect and integrity.
  • Demonstrates WWF behaviours in ways of working: strive for impact, listen deeply, collaborate openly and innovate fearlessly.
  • Adheres to WWF values, including social and environmental safeguards.
